Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to change the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competition. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house based on how dirty these areas are.
If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you own a lot furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
